Tax Preparation and Planning

Tax Preparation and Planning

To us, tax preparation is more than just putting in the numbers and doing the math.  We specialize in tax returns that have reached a level of complexity that taxpayers no longer feel comfortable doing them themselves or that require a level of expertise and savvy that requires a CPA.  To us, this means adequate tax planning to address estimated payment needs, anticipating the effects of changes in income both prospectively and in real time, leveraging opportunities like funding retirement accounts to defer taxes on income to the extent possible, and ensuring we are capitalizing on deductions you are entitled to like home office deductions, self rental, etc.  There are also numerous other aspects of sophistication associated with credits you may be entitled to, making business investment decisions, and operating business that play themselves out with an eye on the tax side.  Philosophically, we are interested in maximizing shareholder net worth, rather than just spending money to reduce your income tax.  CPA's are famous for telling their clients to just buy another F350 pickup to write off under Section 179; we ask the question, how many F350's do you need?  In any event, at the end of the day, this is all about maximizing net worth.   Hey, this gets complicated if you're doing it right.

Our principals have various degrees and certifications, including Certified Public Accountants, Masters in Business Administration (MBA), accreditations in business valuation, and forensics certifications.  It is our opinion that all these skill sets are necessary to server the breadth of concerns our personal and business clients will experience in their lives from starting a business to passing it on to future generations or selling it.  We also assist many of our clients in various aspects of mergers and acquisitions of business interests.  We are always up for a good conversation and welcome your call.
